Artist McKenzie hopes to raise Thousands for Fallen Police Officer

December 18, 2007 Huntsville AL- Hollywood Award-winning Artist McKenzie has pledged the proceeds from her newest painting to the family of slain Police Officer William Eric Freeman.

"It is such a tragedy", says Artist McKenzie, who is known for her efforts to raise awareness and funds for causes close to her heart. "It was so senseless.   My heart breaks for his wife and five children.  I felt compelled to do something".
Huntsville, Alabama Officer William Freeman (36) was shot and killed when he and his partner responded to an automobile accident. As they approached the subject and attempted to arrest him for DUI, the man produced a handgun and shot Officer Freeman in the face.   Officer Freemen was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds the following morning.
"This is what McKenzie does, she uses her art to help others.  She has raised tens of thousands of dollars while spotlighting others in need.   It is what she is about.  It is what motivates her paintbrush!" says her Gallery Manager.
Artist McKenzie, winner of the ARTV Fine Art Awards for Mixed Media, is recognized as one of the best-selling contemporary artists painting today.   Her art has been featured in numerous publications such as Art World News; and her newest Sold-Out Italian Painting Series is currently airing on cable networks in New Jersey and Hawaii.
"Sentient Manarola" is a 30" x 40" Mixed Media Painting specifically painted with the Officer in mind. "I created this painting with a heavy heart," says the artist "I thought about the quote by T.E. Lawrence; "The living knew themselves just sentient puppets on God's stage" This is where the painting's title came from."
The painting is available on www.McKenzieArtStudio.com with 100% of the profits going to the Officer William Eric Freeman Fund. The painting is listed for the gallery price of $16,000.00. Please note: Prints are also available.
